GREEK POLITICS.
SITUATION IMPROVED. (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 30. The political situation in Greece has improved considerably in the last month or so, and passions aroused by the civil war seem to be subsiding, said Mr Anthony Eden, replying to a Labour question in the House of Commons. Mr Eden said that some excesses and injustices were still being committed by supporters both Left and Right, but the present Government’s impartiality was generally recognised. It was doing its utmost to re-establish democratic principles and prepare for a plebiscite and the elections as soon as the necessary machinery could be created. The main problems now facing the Gre\k Government were financial and economic.
