MANPOWER PROBLEM.
Allegations that farm workers who had been unsuccessfully appealed for by farmers of the Rakaia district were being posted for military service before the times recommended by the No. 108 Armed Forces Appeal Board, were made at a meeting of the Rakaia Primary Production Committee, It was stated, too, that reservists who had already been posted had not been replaced and production had been further hampered by wet weather. In view of these circumstances it was decided to draw the attention of the Mid-Canterbury Council of Primary Production to a resolution by the committee in February that would not be responsible for production in the district if further withdrawals of men were made without adequate replacements. . The chairman (Mr T. V. Wilkinson) presided.
