HIGH TEMPERATURE YESTERDAY. e The temperature at. Ashburton yesterday was 82.5 degrees, the highest since 8-1.1 degrees on the hottest day in February, on the first of that month. The highest temperature last April was 77.1) degrees, on the 2nd, and in the previous April 80.2. on the 7th. Right, drizzle and a cool atmosphere to-day were in contrast 1o the heat and wind yesterday. The minimum temperature yesterday was 50.6 degrees, against 55.2 on Tuesday, when the maximum temperature was 73.0. The barometer to-day registered 29.71 inches, against 29.41 yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: A series of westerly depressions is commencing to pass in the south. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.in. to-morrow is as follows: . Rather variable winds, but southwesterlies freshening at times, especially on the coast. Cool and changeable, with a few showers. Further outlook: Continuing changeable.
