AMERICANS IN THE PACIFIC. (Rec. 1.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON. March 31. American bombers attacked five islands at Truk atoll on Wednesday night. A communique from the Pacific Fleet states that Army Liberators bombed the Dublon. Param, Liman, Fefan and Moen Islands. Heavy explosions and fires were observed at Dublon. Fires were also started on Uman and Moen. Anti-aircraft fire was moderate. A single Army Liberator bombed Ponape. Other planes bombed and strafed four enemy positions in the Marshall Islands hitting anti-aircraft batteries, coast defence guns and ammunition dumps and starting fires on one atoll. Fighters severely strafed barges on another atoll. All our planes returned from all operations.
