WAR PRISONERS
690 TO BE ACCOUNTED FOR. 207 ESCAPE TO ALLIED LINES. LOCATION OF GERMAN LINES. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Prisoners-of-War Inquiry Office advises that during the past week another 124 New Zealanders who were in Italian prison camps at the time of the capitulation have been accounted for —l2l are in prison camps in Germany, two are safe with the Allies and one is in Of the total New Zealanders in Italian camps at the time of the capitulation, 259 S have been transferred to German prison camps, 207 have escaped to the Allied lines, and 91 to Switzerland, leaving a balance of 690 to be accounted for. Information lias been received to the effect that Stalag XIB is situated at Fallingbostel, in the neighbourhood of Hanover; and that Stalag XIIID is situated at Nurnburg. Further lists of information concerning persons in Japanese-held territory have been circulated to all Red Cross and St. John centres and may be inspected there by the public. A similar casualty list affecting the American Marine Division has been circulated and may be inspected.
