GARDEN PARTY.
The Allenton Red Cross Society held a garden party in the Sports Ground yesterday aftei’noon. There was an excellent attendance of members and friends, and brisk business was don© at the sales table and competitions. The president (Mi’s J. P. Bootliroyd) welcomed Mrs F. Curtis, who declared the garden party open. The winners of competitions wex’e: Clock croquet, Master K. Begg; croquet angles, Mrs Bathurst; junior, Master D. Hawke; quoits, Master D. Knox; baby competition, Mrs Atkinson.
Great interest was taken in the display of curios from overseas. The net proceeds were approximately £27 10s.
