HOSPITAL BOARD.
. THE MONTHLY MEETING. REPORTS OF THE OFFICERS. The monthly meeting of the Ashburton Hospital Board was held this morning. Those present were Messrs W. Bryont, chairman), C. A. Campion, H. E. Jessep, H. Wilkinson, Raymond Oakley and W. G. Gallagher. Reports were presented by the following officers: — Medical Superintendent.—Patients remaining end of August, 63 males, 32 females—total 95; admitted during September, 65, 34—99; total treated, 128, 66—194; discharged during September, 60, 30—90; died, 3, 2—5; remaining end of September, 65, 84—99. Outpatient attendances, 676; X-ray examinations, inpatients 79, outpatients 135; laboratory reports, 235, 9; message treatments, 126, 343; diathermy treatments, 95, 146; ultra violet-ray treatments, 7, 52; plaster operations, 3,9; operations, 63. Malvern Home—Admissions for the month totalled 26 and discharges the same, 11 patients remaining. An unusually large number of ante-natal patients (134) were seen during the month—34 were given Margaret Morris exercises. Arawa Hospital Nine patients were admitted, nine discharged and six remained for the month. Engineer.—Pieces laundered, 44,419 (1942, 43,308). Mr Bryant reported that there were 14 patients from the Ashburton district in the Wiaipiata Sanatorium.
