BAND OF HOPE.

The Tinwald Band of Hope held its monthly meeting last evening in the Central Hall, Mrs Stevenson presiding over a large gathering of children and parents. A programme was given by the. children under the supervision of Mrs Roffey and Mrs Mcllroy. The Rev. Brown presented prizes to the children in Standards 4, 5 and 6 for essays written on the “Evil effects of alcohol on the human body,” as follows: Robin Harkness 1, Russell Barr 2; girls, Florence Watson 1, Muriel Burnstien 2; also Peter Millichamp, as the youngest competitor.

Supper was provided by members of tlie Women’s Christian Temperance Union and friends.
