UNITED STATES ACTIVITY. BIG APPROPRIATION REQUESTED (Roc. 12.5.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 23. The Army has urgently requested Congress to appropriate 12,526,000,000 dollars for the construction of 33,000 planes. Lieut.-General Arnold explained to the House Appropriation Committee that the request was for a continuation of the present rate of production, and was made before President Roosevelt asked Congress for 60.000 planes in 1942 and 125,000 in 1943.
