ATTACK ON TANKER.
FOUR KILLED ON AMERICAN SHIP. i »»—— WASHINGTON, Jan. 20. At least four of the crew are dead ns a result of the attack on the United States tanker Malay. The Malay was shelled and torpedoed by a submarine off the Atlantic coast. The submarine shelled the Malay without warning from a distance of 500 yards and then torpedoed her from 1500 yards. Survivors said that after the shelling lifeboats were lowered with 15 of the crew and passengers, while the rest remained aboard trying to repair the damage. Immediately after the attack scores of military aeroplanes took off to search coastal waters for submarines.
