TENNIS.

THE ALLENTON CLUB. “The tennis section commenced the season with the prospect of being one of tho best that the club lias had for some years. On the opening day we had something like 30 members and prospective members present, and as the season advanced we had signed on approximately 40 members in all,” the report stated, as presented at the annual meeting of the tennis section of the Allenton Sports Club last evening. Miss Upton presided over a very small attendance.

The report stated that the club had started the season with a large number of junior players, but on account of swimming, this number had been considerably reduced. Ten friendly matches were played and only two of these were lost. The election of officers resulted: President, Miss Upton; vice-presi-dent, Mrs J. Lane; secretary, Mr S. McElhinney; assistant-secretary, Mr M. Martin; committee, Misses Collins, Clark, Moodie and Mr M. Martin; delegates to executive, Mrs Lane and the secretary. Two new members were elected.
