BOXING.
GOftDON BEATS EDDINGTON (P.A.). AUCKLAND, August 4. Two professional boxing contests were held to-night. In the main bout, Clarrie Gordon, of Auckland, lOst lib, beat Gunner I>. Eddington, of Papakura Camp lOst 51b, formerly of Timam. This contest, which was scheduled for 10 three-minvffe rounds, ended at the end of the fifth. Upon returning to his corner, Eddington complained of a- hand injury; and it was found that he had broken a bone in his wrist. This was Gordon’s third! consecutive win since joining the professional ranks. The professional preliminary was between light-weights, Geoff Thomas, of Taranaki (Bst 131 b) and iHughie Sheridan, of Auckland. (Bst 101 b), Thomas winning on points at the end of eight three-minute rounds.
