WRESTLING.

SENSATIONAL CONTEST. (P.A-.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 4. In one of the wildest and most sensational , all-in wrestling contests ever seen in a. Wellington ring, Pat Meehan (Canada) beat Fred Atkins (Australia) who wag disqualified before a. fair-sized bouse at the Town Hall to-night. The Australian proved himself a real “bad man” of the ring. He was warned repeatedly for using strangleholds, knee jolting, and punching. Meehan was more than willing to mix it. Elbow jolts, flying tackles and droplocks were the order of the evening. Frequently the wrestlers came flying out of the ring. Several times the referee had to use physical strength to force the contestants to release illegal holds. The pair were well matched. Atkins scaled 16.5 and Meehan 16.8.
