THE WEATHER.
A HEAVY FOG THIS MORNING. A screen frost of three degrees and ground frost of 7.3 degrees were registered at the Ashburton Domain weather station last night. This morning a heavy fog came up between 9 and 10 o’clock and very chilly conditions prevailed. When the fog cleared the atmosphere remained chilly with the sky overcast. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 45.7 and 29.0 degrees compared with 46.0 and 37.0 degrees on Thursday. The barometer stood at 29.68 inches this morning, having fallen from 29.81 ' inches yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Qamaru is as follows: — 1 Variable winss becoming fresh southwesterlies to-morrow; some scattered showers to-night or to-morrow morning, chiefly in the ranges and to the south; otherwise fair to cloudy. .
