AMERICAN MINERS ON STRIKE. STOPPAGE AT SHIPYARDS. (United Press Association —Copyright.) NEW YORK, May 20. Mr John L. Lewis-(president of the United Aline Workers of America) has ordered hard coal miners to return to work pending the signing of a tentative agreement providing for an immediate increase in wages.
From Lorain (Ohio) -it is reported that approximately 1000 workmen struck to-day, closing the American Shipbuilding Company’s plant, which is handling 10,000,000 dollars’ worth of defence contracts.
