SENIOR GRADE.

A GOOD INNINGS. When rain Stopped play at 5 p.m., Ashburton-Old Boys had reached the substantial total of 215 runs for the loss of six wickets in a match against Kia Ora at the Ashburton Domain Oval on Saturday. The game ended in a draw, stumps being drawn at 4 p.m. through rain at the close of United’s innings. M. Wall, the Technical fast bowler, dismissed seven of the opposing players for 27 runs. W. Owen (23) and G. Stephens (14) made the highest scores.

JUNIOR GRADE.

LAURISTON SCORE WELL

Lauriston beat High School by three runs. Going in first School were all out for. 161 (A. Dewar 44, F. Porter

33 not out and J. Kelly 22). Launston then went to the crease and when they had passed School’s total, the match was terminated. J. A. Mackie wlm was not out contributed a useful 75 to Lauriston’s total of 164 for the loss of three wickets. W. E. Smith made 45 and W. Goodwin 36. The best bowlers for Lauriston were W. Goodwin five for 63 .and D. Smith three for 26, while N. J. Hosking took two for 75 for High School.

TINWALD v. UNITED. An easy win was obtained by linwald over United (Methven). Batting first, Tinwald scored 188 for the loss of nine wickets. In a confident stand B. McKenzie made 105 not out, his score including several boundaries, the next best batsman being E. Meaclem who knocked up 22. United made, a poor stand and were all out for 61 (G. Gleere 14, J. Cretney 13 and S'. Smith 13). Bowling for Tinwald E. Bell took six for 25 and E. Meaclem three for 14. S. Smith and! J. Balfour each took three for 24 for United.
