SCHOOLS’ DISPLAY.

FOR THE PATRIOTIC FUNDS, IN DOMAIN TO-MORROW. Organised by the Ashburton, Hampstead and Allenton Red Cross Societies, a display function is to be given in the - Ashburton Domain, to-mor-row afternoon in .aid of the patriotic funds, and the. programme that has been arranged promises to be a very attractive one. The St. Andrews’ Life Boys will parade, children from the combined schools will give a display of massed folk dancing and an exhibition of advanced folk dancing will be given by senior pupils of the Technical High School, while barefoot daficing will be presented by pupils of Miss Maisie Wilson. There will be boats on the lakes, a eo-pper trail will he- launched and there will be. stalls of several kinds on the Oval. A collection will be taken up at the gate.

PROGRESS OF APPEALS.

COLLECTORS STILL BUSY. Collectors in charge of blocks of houses in Ashburton are still busy in the evenings taking up collections in aid of the Borough share in tho big patriotic appeal, and it is hoped that all the collection sheets will be handed in by the beginning of next week. The list at the “Guardian” office continues' to grow and the total tlieic is £29 10s. The latest donations are:—

The collection in the Tinwald district had reached a total of £221 to noon today.
