CHILDREN’S PARTY

FANCY DRESSES AT HAMPSTEAD. SICK AND WOUNDED FUND. As a result of the concert hold oil Wednesday evening, - and a children s fancy-dress party on Saturday, about £22 was raised by the Hampstead subcentre of the Red Cross Society for the Ashburton section of the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund. The fancy-dress party was a great success, a large number of children attending in a wide variety ol fancydress costumes. Items were contributed as follow: Tap dance, Miss E. Ingram; Irish Jig, Daphne Childs. Mrs J. Green was pianist., Mr-and Mrs F. Taylor played extras. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded those who had assisted in making the party a success, including Mr and Mrs Iv. S. Me Ra chon, who did a large part of the organising. . Prizes for costumes were awarded by the judges (Mesdames S. Macfarlnno and T. Petliick) as follow . Rest-dressed girl, Peggy Eadcn; best-dressed boy, Trevor Hefford; most original girl, Natalie Grice; most original boy, E. Jackson; cheapest-dressed boy, Allan Green; cheapest-dressed girl, three girls equal; youngest girl, Barbara Jones; youngest boy, - Grice. It was decided to hold another fancydress party and a community sing shortly.
