CENTENNIAL RELAY RACE. DUNEDIN CIVIL SERVICE WIN. CHRISTCHURCH, June 1. Civil Service, Dunedin, in brilliant style, Avon the Centennial relay race from the Sign of the Takalie, Christchurch, to Akaroa' to-day. They led throughout except for part of the second stage, and proved to he one of the finest teams yet to compete in tins marathon relay race, the outstanding event of its kind in Australia or Now Zealand. Christchurch secured second place and Seotting (Wellington), racing doggedly, gained steadily to finish a close third. Great credit was due to the Timaru team in outclassing the B grade field and in finishing a close fourth in the open race. Results: A Grade.
