INDIANS' PLEDGE
DEMAND FOR FUTURE STATUS.
COMPLETE INDEPENDENCE. GANDHI ORGANISES MILLIONS. '.United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) BOMBAY, January 12. Mahatma' Ghandi has organised millions to recite the following pledge on January 26, when Congress will hold its tenth annual celebrations: “Me believe it is the inalienable right of the Indian people to have freedom to enjoy the fruits of their toil. We believe that if any government has deprived the people of these rights the people liaye the further right to alter or abolish it. The British Government has not only deprived the Indian people of their freedom but has also based itself on. the exploitation of the masses, and ruined India economically, culturally and spiritually. We believe that India mustsever the British connection and obtain complete independence. We recognise that the most effective way of gaining our freedom is not violence. India has gained strength and self-re-liance and lias marched a long way toward independence after peaceful legitimate methods. It is by adhering to these methods that she will attain independence. Wo know, though wo are out to destroy the Imperialist system, that we have" no quarrel with Englishmen, whether officials or non-officials.
