FIFTY BOMBS DROPPED.
BRITISH STEAMER ATTACKED. ALL MEMBERS OF CREW SAFE. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, January 12. Two German ’planes bombed and ma-chine-gunned the Petwines off the coast of Yorkshire. The crew took to the boats. The captain later reported that a fire aboard tile vessel had been quelled and asked the aid of a tug, which took the Petwines in'tow. All members of the crew are safe,- despite 50 bombs being dropped.
