PERSONAL.
Members of the Rakaia Bowling Club made a presentation to Mr Ashford, who is leaving to reside in Kaitangata. The }>resident (Mr F. J. Colgan) made the presentation. His remarks were endorsed by Mr McNamara (vice-president).
Mr W. Hedges, of Ashburton, has been appointed by the Government an appraiser under the wool purchase scheme with the British Government, and is at present in 'Dunedin on thi.s duty. There are eight appraisers for the Dominion, two each at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, and M ( v Hedges is one of the Dunedin officers . '
