THE WEATHER.
OVERCAST BUT SETTLED TO-DAY. The weather in Ashburton to-day was settled, although during the morning the sky was for the most part overcast. Very warm conditions were enjoyed yesterday, when the maximum reading of the thermometer was 73.1 degrees. The minimum temperature was So degrees. The barometer stood at 29.36 inches this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: The depression reported yesterday is passing eastwards but a rather deep secondary is approaching across the south Tasman Sea. Preserve has again risen considerably over south-eastern Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light variable winds to-day with cloudy mild feather, with a sharp southerly or south-westerly change by to-morrow and weather becoming cool and showery with possibly hail and thunder. Seas moderate.
