SWIMMING.
EAST ASHBURTON CLUB.
OPENING NEXT WEDNESDAY. The official opening of the season with a carnival on the evening of next Wednesday was agreed to at a meeting of the committee of the East Ashburton Amateur Swimming Club, when the president (Mr G. Bowman) presided.
A programme of about eight or nine events was drawn up. The president reported that the Mayor (Dr. G. I. Aliller) had been asked to declare the season open at the carnival. It was reported that the membership would be up to that of last year.
