WORK FOR ST. STEPHEN’S CHOIR.
The members of the St. Stephen s Anglican Choir met Mr and Mrs J. C. Thompson and daughter, at Mr and Mrs R. Stephenson’s residence last evening for the purpose of saying farewell after Mr Thompson’s 11 years as organist and choirmaster at St. Stephen’s. There was a good attendance of present adult members of the choir and all ex-members during Mr Thompson’s regime who were available were also present. On behalf of the choir, Mr U. Hosken, the senior member, thanked Mr Thompson for his work with the choir and wished him every success in his new appointment at Hawera. Mrs Muir, on behalf of the choir, presented Mr Thompson with a bound and inscribed Cathedral Psalter, and amplified Air Hosken’s remarks. Mrs and Miss Thompson were the recipients of bouquets. Air Thompson, in replying, thanked the choir for their loyalty to him and commented on the very happy relationship that existed between all members and himself during his period of office. Air Thompson stressed the thought that he was very sorry to part with his choir and said he would always take a very keen interest in their doings. He wished them every success in the future, and particularly asked them to give their loyal services to his successor as they had given to him.

Cassidy, the accompaniments being played by Airs L. A. Charles, Aliss L. Acton laind Air J. C. Thompson. Games were enjoyed, and supper was passed round.
