FRENCH FAMILY AND FRIEND. ’PLANE CRASHES IN FLAMES. (United Press Association— 'Copyright.) PARIS, November 3. It is reported from Bordeaux that a man, his Avife, son and daughter, and a friend of the family were killed when a touring ’plane crashed at Loupiac de la Reole.

Eye-witnesses state that they saAV smoke and flames issuing from one engine after the ’plane took off. The ’plane suddenly turned and endeavoured to return. It Avas enveloped in flames and then crashed.

A terrific explosion bIeAV out the passengers hundreds of feet, mutilating them beyond recognition.

The pilot Avas Mr A. G. M. Cary, formerly personal pilot to the Viceroy of India.

A correspondent of the Independent Cable Service says that th£ name of the ’plane was St. Catherine’s Bay. The ’piano had almost made’ the boundary of the airport when it suddenly dived, narroAvly missing a hotel. Airport officials and police raced to the scene. Hundreds of people ran from their homes, hut it Avas impossible to approach/ the ’piano because of "the terrific heat. A man, his Avife and their child and tAvo other Avomen were among the victims.

A business man due to catch the ’plane for London arrived late at the airport, just in time to see it crash.
