RETURN OF ICE AGE.
POSTPONEMENT PREDICTED. METEOROLOGIST’S OPINION. LONDON, October 20. Sir George Simpson, who was a member of Scott’s Antarctic expedition and is a world-famed meteorologist, believes that the return of the ico age will be postponed. Sir George’s last act before retiring from the post of director of the London Meteorologist Office was to announce that his estimate of the return of the ice age was too small by 1000 years. He says that the decrease in the sun’s heat causes the probable date to become more remote. “That sounds paradoxical,” he adds, “but increased heat causes more wind, more clouds and more snow.”
