THE WEATHER.

FAIR CONDITIONS TO-DAY. Although the sky was overcast at times to-day thebe, was a, welcome change in conditions from yesterday, when rain fell intermittently. Eighteen points of rain, were registered yesterday, when the maximum temperature was 54.2 degrees The minimum inside reading of the thermometer last night was 3S degrees. The barometer stood at 30.4 inches this morning. THE MONTH AT RUAPUNA.

The satisfactory weather which prevailed during August and September continued at Ruapuna into October. The sun shone on 24 days, 16 of 'which were sunny all day. The total rainfall of 243 points brought the total for the year to date to 39.8 inches, which is more than two inches in advance of any total previously recorded for that period. THE RAINFALL AT RAKAIA. Rain fell in Rakaia on 11 days during October, making a total of 2.71 inches, compared, with .47 inches for the corresponding month last year and 3.38 inches for September this year. The heaviest fall for any one day was 106 points on October 10.
