NEW FIRE ENGINE.

EXPECTED IN A FORTNIGHT. REPORT TO THE BRIGADE. The monthly meeting of the Ashburton Fire Brigade was held last evening, Superintendent H. Hefford presiding. The Borough Council wrote congratulating the Brigade on its work at the recent fire in Wakanui Road. The Chamber of Commerce also wrote congratulating the Brigade on winning the Canterbury Shield, and enclosed a cheque for £1 Is towards the Brigade’s funds. A further congratulatory letter was received from Ex-Superintendent L. Kidd.

The Superintendent reported that the new fire engine would arrive in about two weeks’ time.

Fireman S. Prod fly was elected auditor, and Dept. Supt. J. Hickey trustee. The purchase of a motor tender was held over pending the decision ol the Borough Council. Correspondence was received from the Government Inspector of Fire Brigades relating to formation of Firfe Boards. This was left to the Borough Council.
