NEW ZEALAND DAVIS CUP TEAM.
JUNIOR GIRLS FOR AUSTRALIA
WELLINGTON, January 20. The secretary of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association (Mr H. N. Burns) announces that lie has received the following nominations for the New Zealand Cup team and for the junior gins’ team to visit Australia: — Davis Cup team—>C. Angas (Canterbury), N. Edwards, N. F. Bedford, and D. C. Coombe (Wellington), N. G. Sturt and A. D. Brown (Auckland).
Junior Girls’ Team—Misses K. Armstrong (Canterbury), J. (Douthett, J. Bedford, B. Dale, L. Akel, and J. Forrester (Wellington), Pam Cooke (Auckland), and Rede Wilson (Southland). There is uncertainty about the position of Miss Margaret Beverley, as no nomination for her has yet been received from the Waikato Lawn Tennis Association.
FOR TO-MORROW. The following wall represent their respective clubs in tennis matches to-morrow:— Te Marae. Juniors, v Fairton at Te Marae.— Misses J. Samuels, F. Dunn, P. McSherry, Mrs A. SPORTS ATTRACTIONS.
FIXTURES FOR TO-MORROW. The usual sports fixtures, comprising cricket, tennis, and bowling matches, will be played in Ashburton to-mor-row. Tennis Matches. The representative team of the MidCanter bnry Lawn Tennis Sub-Associ-ation will travel to Leeston, where it will play a fixture against the Ellesmere Association.
The junior tennis competitions will be continued with the following games: Ashburton A v. Ashburton B, at Ashburton ; Baring Square v. Allenton, at Alien ton.; Fairton v. Te Marne, at Te Marae. Cricket Competitions. The competitions of the Ashburton County Cricket Association will be advanced a stage further with the following games: Senior: Kia Ora v. Technical, Ashburton v. Public Works Irrigation, Old Boys v. Fairfield. Junior: Public Works Irrigation v. Tinwald, Coldstream v. Technical, Old Boys v. Lauriston, Kia Ora v. Methven. Bowling Matches. Two friendly bowling matches will he played. Ashburton will meet Linwood, and Allenton will play Mothven.
