ASHBURTON PLAYERS RETURN. PLEASANT TIME AT TOURNAMENT. Well sun-burnt and pleased with a pleasant holiday, most of the Ashburton Bowling Club who took part in the Dminion tournament have returned. These include E. A. Cockroft, C. J. McEachen, H. R. D. Porter and F. (David, the last having been back several days. P. Dunn is still in Dunedin.
The rinks team won four out of its eight games and was generally satisfied with its performance. Air McEachen said that to win 50 per cent, of the games was quite good, considering the calibre of the other players, many of whom were in picked rinks, and in one case at least a leading player was in the rink of another club.
“The greens were lovely,” he said. “They were very fast, almost like billiard* tables, and by comparison with our own green were fiery. The weather was excellent, there being only one shower of rain on the Tuesday, and actually it could not have been much better.* We spent an ideal holiday.”
