WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

THE ASHBURTON DISTRICT. ' Mrs D. A. Morgan presided oyer a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Ashburton District Women’s Institute on Friday afternoon. A satisfactory financial statement was submitted by the treasurer (Mrs F. Curtis) who reminded members of the picnic to Fairton on February 24, and said luncheon and afternoon tea would he provided free to all County Institute members, who should notify their secretaries if they Avish to attend. All requests are to be in by the December meeting. All members will be the guests of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company. Mrs It. S. Watson moved a vote of thanks to the ladies who sold basketware at the recent shoAV which proved a record for Ashburton. Over £2B worth of goods Avere sold for the Blind Institute, Auckland. A very interesting talk on daffodil culture Avas given by the Rev. W. W. Avery, of Willowby, and members gained, many hints on bulb growing. Mrs R. Tucker moved, a vote of thanks. Sick visitors for the next three months are Mesdames D'. Clarke, W. J. Sedcole. Hostesses Avere Mesdames Edmiston, Hines, Shirnack. Sedcole, Clarke, Curtis, Leask, and Miss R.
