TRAP SHOOTING.

THE METHVEN GUN CLUB. The Methven Gun Club brought its season to a close on Saturday afternoon when the ladies’ day match and the finals for the President’s trophy and the season’s aggregate were decided. Tho weather was fine and shooting conditions were good and some excellent shooting was recorded. In the President’s trophy match McHugh and Harrison were each level with 66 points at the close of the series and in a shoot-off Harrison was winner. In the season’s aggregate for the

club’s trophy, McHugh was winner with 200 points over all matches. Harrison and McLeod were equal with 198. The trophies were presented to the winners at the close of the shoot by Mr A. A. McLeod in the unavoidable absence of the President (Mr J. T. Corbett). Details are:— 6-Bird Match, trophy with sweepstake. G. A. Franks 6, A. McLeod 6, L. C. Anderson 6, Holland 6, S. H. Anderson 6, J. S. McHugh 5, T. S. Harrison 5, A. E, Wilson 5, E. F. Ward 5, D. Harrison 5. In the shoot-off Franks won on the' third round, McLeod, L. C. Anderson and Holland dividing the sweepstake. Ladies’ Match,. 12 clay birds.

Holland won the first prize, and the shoot-off for second and third resulted in T. S. Harrison taking second and Franks third. The sweepstake was divided among the ladies who drew for various individual shooters. President’s Trophy, 14 birds—T. S. Harrison 14, and J. S. McHugh 13 equalised their points in the aggregate over the season. In the shoot-off McHugh missed his bird and left Harrison ■the winner. McLeod, Franks, Wilson, and Ward each broke 12 birds and divided third money in the sweep. The club team having recently won the second trophy in the annual C.A.C. competition held in Christchurch, it was decided to shoot for the trophy under similar conditions for a straightout individual win. Harrison with the only possible of 15 breaks won the trophy and was first in the sweepstake. McLeod, Franks and Holland each had 14 on and divided second and third money. In the final nine-bird clay match S. H. Anderson, G. A. Franks and J. S. McHugh each fired the possible and divided the sweepstake.
