The Rev. IL_ S. Watson returned to Ashburton this morning after attending the sessions of the Presbyterian General Assembly in Auckland. Mr B. Wilkie, of Ashburton, has passed in biology and dental anatomy in the professional examination for the B.D.S. degree. Mr H. C. B. Withell (Ealing) v. as elected a member of the Council at the annual meeting of the Ryeland Society of New Zealand. Bishop West-Watson, Bishop of Christchurch, returned from F.ng'aud by the Rangitata this wink after attending two important religLton ferences of a world-wide character. The Rev. L. A. North, minister of Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, Christchurch, who recently returned after spending eight njonths abroad, will visit Ashburton next Thursday evening, and will give an address in the Baptist Church on his travels. Mr J. H. Chapman (accountant to. the Otago Hospital Board), who will begin duty as secretary to the Ashburton Hospital Board at the beginning of the year, in succession to Mr A. Prentice, is visiting Ashburton. At the meeting of the Canterbury Education Board yesterday the resignations of Mrs L. M. Hodgson (Ashburton), and Mr C. A. Coi-bett (Lismore), from January 31 next year, were accepted. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mrs Hodgson ,who is retiring after long and faithful service.
