EASTER DISPLAY AT TIMARU

ASHBURTON IN THE “B” GRADE

At a meeting of citizens held at Timaru last evening, to appoint an executive for the Dominion Pipe Bands’ championship contest to be held there on Easter Saturday, it was stated that in 1935 six bands had taken part, but this year a B grade competition would bo included, and already nine bands had signified their intention of attending,with a possibility of two others. The bands were:

A Grade—Dunedin, City of Christchurch, Wanganui, and Timaru.

B. Grade —Gore, Temuka, Ashburton County, Scottish Society of New Zealand, Ruahine Caledonian and possibly Manawatu and New Plymouth. It was decided that the quickstep bo held in the afternoon and the drummajors’ displays in the evening. A street marching display will also be held.
