LOSS BY FIRE.
NGAHERE HOTEL DESTROYED. .Per Press Association.) GREYMOUTHI, This Day. The Ngahero Hotel was destroyed by fire this morning between 4 and 5 o’clock. The fourteen roomed 1 building is a total loss. Mrs A. L. Bernard, licensee and owner of the building, has insurances for £450 in the Mercantile and General Office and £2OO on the household goods in the Alliance Company.
ROOM AT HOSPITAL GUTTED. DANNEVIRKE, September 7. A fire at midnight at the Dannevirke Public Hospital on Saturday in the staff quarters, resulted in a room being badly gutted and practically all the furniture destroyed. The brigade’s prompt response to the call averted a possible serious conflagration, which might have engandered the block of buildings. The cause unknown. The patients were undisturbed, the great majority being unaware of the occurrence till the morning.
