ASHBURTON STOCK SALE.

EXCELLENT YARDING OFFERED.

HIGH PRICES ARE MAINTAINED. Excellent sheep of high all-round quality were offered at the stock sale in the Ashburton Yards to-day, with the result that the high prices ruling at the Tinwald sale last week were well maintained. There was some keen bidding for a yarding which had improved slightly in size. While more butchers’ pens were offering there was no increase in the store sheep. In the ewe section top price went to Mrs I. McConnell (Hinds), for a pen of Bat 32s 7d. The best ewes brought from 28s Id to 31s 7d, and other prices ranged from 19s lOd to 27s lOd.

The wether offering was also attractive and fairly large. Throe sold for a Mayfield client at 37s 7d topped the section, other prices ranging from 29s lOd to 36s Id.

Few hoggets were offered, but there was a fairly good cattle entry. Sales made up to noon were:— Fat ewes—On account of K. Campbell (Lagmhor), 2at 23s 4d; J. W.
