ABYSSINIAN AND MUSSOLINI. (United Pi ess Association—Copyright.) ROME, Sept. 5. Signor Mussolini received the renegade Abyssinian, chief, Ras Gugsa,, who handed over his 'medals, decorations, and the lion’s mane head-dress formerly received from Haile Selassie. The chief extolled fascist Italy.
PACIFICATION CAMPAIGN. ~ REBUILDING ADDIS ABABA. (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) ADDIS ABABA, September 6. Inaugurating the campaign of pacification in the unsubjugated hinterland, synchronising with the end of the rains on August 15, Marshal Graziani farewellcd a column of Eritreans and Abyssinians on embarking by motor lorries and commanded by white officers, with mechanicians, all equipped with modern weapons. Elaborate plans are contained in the report of the commission on rebuilding Addis Ababa. It will be a garden city with a central monumental zone fringed by the vice-regal palace and Government buildings. Nearby will lie the new Catholic Cathedral. Six large barracks will dominate the main incoming roads.
Natives will be segregated in zones according tui rank. Hospitals, schools and sports centres are included in the plans.
