THE TURF.
BETTING OFF THE COURSE. A TARANAKI RESOLUTION. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 4. A unanimous resolution on the subject of off the course betting was passed at a meeting, which to-day formed a Taranaki Owners’ Breeders’, and Trainers’ Association. Mr A. R. Standish was appointed chairman, ana Mr H. L. Garner secretary. The committee will be appointed at a further meeting. The meeting was addressed by the organiser, Mr E. G. Sutherland. The resolution was: “That this meeting favours the establishment of legal depots, whereby money can be directed directly to the totalisator, and that the whole matter be fully investigated when any fresh legislation comes before Parliament.’’
