LODGE MEETING.

THE MANCHESTER UNITY. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Ashburton Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held last evening, the N.G. (Bro. R. Rollinson) presiding over a good attendance. Sick pay amounting to £l4 los was passed in favour of 14 members. An invitation to be represented at the Lova.l Pioneer Lodge (Staveley) annual, ball on Friday, September 18, and to be present at the church parade on the following Sunday was accepted with, pleasure. Six candidates w'ere elected and three proposed. The lodge adopted a recommendation that, in compliance with the wish of the District Committee, a, social open to members of all Manchester Unity lodges in the district, he held at Ashburton, the date selected being Tuesday, September 22. The Lecture Master (P.G. Bro. R. H. Biggar) admitted three candidates to the Scarlet Degree, and after lodge closed conferred past officers’ degrees on two members, in preparation for the Purple Degree, which will bo conferred at Ashburton on October 1.
