THE HIGHWAYS BOARD.
MR J. WOOD BECOMES CHAIRMAN.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 28. Mr C. J. McKenzie, who recently retired on account of ill-health from the position of Engineer-in-Chief and Under-Secretary for Public Works, has resigned the: chairmanship of the Main Highways Board for .similar reasons. The appointment of Mr John Wood, (the new Engineer-in-Chief and Undersecretary for Public Works) to he chairman of the Board in succession to Mr McKenzie is announced by the Minister of Public Works. Mr Wood has been a member of the Board for several years. To fill the vacancy on the Board, Mr A. J. Baker (assisting Engineer-in-Chief and formerly acting-member), has been appointed as Government representative. Mr H. H. Sharp is now acting-member of the Board.
