LODGE MEETING.
ANCIENT ORDER OF DRUIDS. Star of Ashburton Lodge, U.A.0.D., met last evening, the A.D. (Bro. A. C. Vincent) presiding. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Bro. T. H. Fawcett (Masterton) was carried in silence and the soca-etary’s action in arranging for a wreath to be sent was approved. An invitation to attend a social evening at the close of the Success of Ashburton’s meeting next Monday was accepted. It was decided to invite the Foresters’ Lodge to a card match on August 10. One candidate was proposed and three initiated.
Sick pay was. passed in favour of six members. _
The D.P. (Bro. ICI. R. Cooper) having requested P.D.P, Bro. A. :Ga-rricck to install the V.A. Bards, the lodge was notified that the ceremony would be performed next meeting night. At the close of the lodge ,3, social was held, with cards and dancing, the music being supplied by Bro. E. Mills. A large number of members were present, together with members of the Success of Ashbui'ton Lodge. Miss J. Sutton won the ladies’ prize and Bro. C. Jeffs the men’s prize. for progressive euch-re. Miss Mona Miller contributed a tap dance, this item being loudly applauded. ‘
