CHARGE WITHDRAWN.
PERTH DIAMOND THEFT SEQUEL.
{United Press Association —Copyright.) PERTH, July 18.
The Crown Law Department has decided not to proceed with the charge against Cyril Thomas Brennan of having stolen £SOOO worth of diamond rings from the shop of Caris Bros., Perth.
Brennan was released from custody. He had served 11 months of a 10 yearssentence on a charge of having unlawfully killed Edgar Arthur Whitfield, caretaker for Caris Bros. He appealed successfully to the State Court of Criminal Appeal against his conviction for manslaughter, but the High Court ordered a re-trial, which ended in Brennan’s acquittal this week. Brennan was immediately re-arrested on the charge that has now been withdrawn.
