DIAMOND JUBILEE.

ST. STEPHEN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH.

PROGRAMME BEING ARRANGED

A meeting of the committee to organise the queen carnival! in connection with the diamond jubilee of St. Stephen’s Church was held on Friday evening. The idea to hold a queen carnival of a novel nature was taken up with enthusiasm. Two candidates for idle position of queen -were selected, namely, Mrs M. E. Trevor and Mrs M. E. Ruddcek. Strong committees are in process of being organised to further the candidature of the two queens. Mrs A. T. Smith was appointed Mistress of Ceremonies.

It was decided to hold the jubilee festivities at the Radiant Hall. The following provisional arrangements have been made:—

Sunday, September 27—Jubilee services at the Church; preacher, the Rev. H. Nelson Wright, a former vicar. It is hoped, to have one of the services broadcast.

Monday, September 28—Jubilee dinner at Radiant Hall.

Tuesday, September 29—Jubilee ball at Radiant Hall.

Thursday and Friday, October 1 and 2—Jubilee flower show and carnival at the Radiant Hall. Saturday, October 3—Dedication of children’s corner in the church as a memorial to the iate Mr F. Z. D. Ferriman, by the Bishop, and,, if possible, the laying of the foundation-stone of the new parish hall. Monday, October s—Concert and ceremony of crowning the queen. It was decided that tickets purchased for the queen carnival should admit to the flower show.
