HIGHER DUTIES.
IMPORTATIONS FROM JAPAN. AUSTRALIAN MOVE FORECAST. (United Press Association; —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, April 14. A correspondent of the “Sun-Her-ald” Service says that Japanese papers forecast that Australia is about to impose a stiff duty on imports of Japanese rayons, and that the Japanese exporters’ associations are considering suspension of trade with Australia as a protest. “The Manchester Guardian” points out that the Australian-Japanese trade negotiations are not completed. The results have not been reported to Australia or Britain, but Japanese papeis significantly specify the amount of the increased duties.
