SPORTS ATTRACTIONS.
FIXTURES FOR TO-MORROW. The main sports event in Ashburton to-morrow will he the Mid-Canterbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Association’s Gala Cup competitions, to be held on the Ashburton and Te Marae Club courts. Good entries have been received, particularly in the men’s senior events. The competitions, which are on a championship basis, will be concluded next Saturday. The Mid-Canterbury Bowling SubCentre will conduct its Gala Cup championships at Rakaia. Events to be competed in are singles, pairs and rinks. Owing to the cricket test match in Christchurch no senior games will be' played in the Ashburton County Cricket Association’s competitions, and only one junior gan\e, a postponed match between Fairfield, and Goldstream, which will conclude the junior competition. A sports gymkhana will he held at Mount Somers, where the Ashburton Motor-Cycling Club will take part in the events.
