A correspondent of the “Sun-Herald” service says that the Government is expediting and extending the production of gas masks in the hope that 30,000,000 to 40,000,000 will soon be manufactured and stored in depots in every town and village for quick distribution in the event of emergency. It is anticipated that by the- end of the year the organisation will he completed "throughout Britain, designed to deal with gas casualties. The Government in the meantime has acquired a country house and grounds for an anti-gas school for training a special corps of instructors, who will be drafted to all parts of tlie country to teach official bodies, besides voluntary workers. Other plans include preparation for a sudden expansion of hospital accommodation and arranging first-aid posts in towns and villages. These precautions are connected with the Government’s great scheme for rearmament and defence.
