SEASONAL WORK IN BRITAIN. (United Press Association —Copyright.) LONDON, February 3. A feature of the Ministry of Labour returns is the accentuation ot the normal seasonal increase in unemployment at this time of the year by a spell of favourable weather near the date of the count, and by the registration of a large number of juveniles who reached the school-leaving age at the end of the December term. It. is estimated that at January 20 there were approximately 10,349,000 insured persons of ages 16 to 64 in employment in Britain. Ibis was 250,000 less than in the month Before, but 282,000 more than at January 28, 16 35. At the same date the nurn’cr of employed on the register iv is 2.10.*.;-’2, comprising 1,732,503 wholly unemployed, 345117 temporarily laid off, and 82,i02 normally in casual omplo/ment This was 291,157 more than at Decrnl,ei- 16, 1935; but 165 651 less than a year ago.— -British Official Wireless.
