SEVENTEEN KILLED
AMERICAN 'PLANE CRASHES. CRAFT COMES DOWN IN SWAMP. LOSS OF PROPELLER REPORTED. (United Press Association— Copyright.) NEW YORK, Jan. 15. One of the most serious accidents in the history of American commercial aviation occurred near Goodwin (Arkansas) on Tuesday night, according to reports in the "New York Times." Fourteen passengers and three members of the crew of an American Airlines aeroplane were -.mstantly killed when the plane crashed in a swamp. A few minutes before the accident wireless reports from the aeroplane declared that all was well, as flying weather was favourable. There is no immediate explanation of the disaster. It is reported, however, that the crash was due to the loss of one of the propellers.
