DISEASE FROM PARROT
TWELVE CASES IN VICTORIA. FOUR. OTHERS SUSPICIOUS. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.). MELBOURNE, This Day. Psittacosis is officially proclaimed a notifiable infectious disease. Twelve cases in humans have been identified in Victoria, and four others are being investigated. Four cases are somewhat serious, but so far there have been no deaths.
A Melbourne cablegram dated December 26 stated: Ten suspected cases of psittacosis, which is a lung infection of the pneumonic type contracted from parrots, have been reported in Melbourne since the outbreak began a few weeks ago.
